Hi, my name is Daniel Panaro! I am 13 years old and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes this past March. It was quite a shock! I have learned how to administer insulin, carb count and treat all of the highs and lows that come with diabetes...both physically and emotionally.
T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure—yet.
It has not been an easy road, but I am determined to not let it slow me down!
I am participating in the JDRF ONE WALK to help find a cure and turn Type One into Type None. I know that everyone has busy lives and commitments to work, family and friends. I am asking you to donate whatever you can, be it money or time to help me and my cause.
