We are a family of roller coaster fanatics, which is a nice way to say crazy roller coaster people! My kids know the height, size, speed, drops, and angles of dozens of roller coasters all over the US.  Roller coasters are their thing, and as a result, we have become a total amusement park family.  It is definitely fun!!

One thing on our summer bucket list this year was a trip to Luna Park in Coney Island.  It was hard to believe that we had never been to this iconic park, and had never even seen the Cyclone other than in the distance as we drove to Manhattan.  My boys were so excited that we were finally going!  It seems crazy now that we waited so long.

When we got there we were all excited!  It was easy to get to, with lots of parking nearby.  When we entered Luna Park we were totally surprised-- there were so many unique rides!  My amusement park experts saw styles of rides that they had never seen before.  We all loved the 'Steeplechase'- where we each sat on a horse before we were launched out on a wild ride!  It was exciting because even though we have ridden so many other coasters, we had never gone on one where we sat upright before.  It was a very cool feeling!

Next we tried out the the "Soarin' Eagle"-- which took all of us by surprise as we flipped and flew as we were each enclosed in our own little capsule.  With this unique restraint system, you really feel like you are free flying!  While the nervous mom (me!) held on for dear life, everyone else loved the feeling as they soared freely through the air.  An experience that was like no other!

With our 4 hour wristbands, we were able to ride these coasters as many times as we wanted.  There are many other great rides included in the wristband.  Too many to name them all!  But some of our favorites were Air Race, Electro Spin, Luna 360, and the Brooklyn Flyer.  You can check out all of the amazing rides at Luna Park by clicking here.

After all of that, it was Cyclone time!!  We were lucky enough to get the back car and loved speeding through 2,640 feet of fun!!  Besides enjoying the twists and turns, my kids loved thinking about how their grandparents sat on this very same ride when they were kids 50 years ago.

And of course, don't forget the Thunderbolt- Luna Park's newest and most exciting ride.  Two minutes at 55 mph, with crazy loops and drops, definitely my thrill seeker's favorite!

Have you taken your kids to Luna Park yet?   We are so lucky to live so close to this incredible place.  You have to go!!
