Going to the circus was a great childhood memory, the smells, the sights, the sense of wonder and excitement in the air! It was such a pleasure to see my children feel that at the Opening Night of the Big Apple Circus. Seeing the show right in the middle of Manhattan was such a treat. Being able to walk through the streets, view the fountains of Lincoln Center and then enter the tent into another world was so exciting! We entered quickly and were directed where to go. You could smell the popcorn in the air as we walked throught the main tent. The circus is one ring, with an orchestra above. The venue was small, which made viewing from any area easy.
The ringmaster started the circus off, getting everyone excited for what was to come. Our favorite parts were the Contortionist, The Anastasini Brothers, Aerial Spaceship and of course the Trapeze! I attended with my four-year-old daughter and twelve year old son (who has autism). I was unsure how he would react, but the two of them were enthralled from the minute we got there.
