Review: The New York Spring Spectacular!

Don't miss this show--it ends on May 7th

April 17, 2015
We had the opportunity to see The New York Spring Spectacular this weekend and it was amazing!  As soon as we arrived at Radio City Music Hall, we could feel the excitement in the air. Starring Derek Hough, Laura Benanti, and the world famous Rockettes, the Spring Spectacular is an upbeat, exciting show that takes you on a tour of New York City's most popular landmarks.  To add to the fun, we were given 3-D glasses and magical LED bracelets as we made our way to our seats for the show. We had no idea what to expect, but we knew it was going to be awesome!

The show begins with Jack (Hough) appearing as an angel who is trying to earn his wings.  He meets Jenna (Benanti), who is a rich, powerful, beautiful woman who is taking over New York with her 'virtual' versions of everything. Jenna wants to fire Bernie, a kind, friendly grandpa who gives tours of New York City.  Jack's mission is to change her mind.

As we follow along on Bernie's last tour, we stop at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Station, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and so much more.  The set and special effects are truly incredible and make the journey even more exciting. From working fountains, to flying dancers, to live dogs and everything in between, the energy of this show was unlike anything we'd ever seen before.

There were so many fun surprises, and I don't want to spoil them before you see the show. I highly recommend this show for adults and children alike. Your kids will see New York in a new light, and adults will see so many beautiful things about the city that their hearts will sing. It will remind you of all the reasons that you love New York! This was a great experience for my family, and one that I hope you share before it closes on May 7th.
